Alexander AHERN, son, 5, born Agra East IndiesFurther research shows Mary Butler was born and baptised 1833 in Sydney New South Wales (St. Philips) where her father was stationed with the 17th regiment between 1831&1836. A further 2 children were also baptised at St. Philips, Sydney, Edward in 1831 (born at sea) and Eliza in 1835.
Eliza Married Edward Pedder of the 22nd regiment on 10th August 1848 at Poona, India, future brother-in-law Michael Ahern was one of the witnesses at the wedding.

Edward Butler born 1831 (at sea) was attested for the 16th Lancers on 24th October 1845 age 14 years at Meerut.
He served 14 years and 181 day of which 17 years and 5 months were in India.
He was discharged on 21st April 1874 with a pension of 2/0 ½
His intended residence was C/- Mr G. Liddell, Feltham reformatory Hounslow
