Further InformationDischarge due to ‘severe ophthalmia of both eyes, resulting in impaired vision of both eyes. The disease was produced by service in the Ionian Islands and was prevalent at the station during the time, and has not been aggravated by vice or misconduct. (Produced by climate and not by contagion.’)
The Obituary for Emma Atkinson in 1935 mentions her brothers PJ and M McCall and her sister Mrs M Huxtable which suggests they are the only surviving children of Elizabeth Ahern (from her three marriages), however, in the death notice for Michael McCall in 1949 it mentions a step sister Katie Barrow of Albany. The only marriage found is for Samuel James Barrow to Catherine O’Connor in 1938 at Albany. There was a girl called Katie O’Connor in Albany around the 1920s who was involved in theatrical events which Samuel Barrow was associated with his roles with the different organisation he was part of.
