1861 John Cadden 2049 Private 27th Foot location Morar East Indies
Discharge due to chronic rheumatism – nearly a cripple
November 1880 John Cadden was on the nominal list for the Enrolled Guard at the time he was living in the No 1 barracks Fremantle with his wife.
He bought some of the excess furniture sold at the barracks to the value of £1/4/3 and £5/8/6
1st March -30th June 1881 he was employed at the magazine.
The marriage of Annie to Alexander Quinn was not a happy one and Annie charged him with desertion in September 1890, after his death in 1894 she married Andrew Ross. This marriage was also unhappy and resulted in separation after much domestic violence. The Fremantle Times wrote an in depth obituary for Annie (see attachment on this page) however the claim she was a nurse during the Crimean Campaign seems far-fetched seeing the 27th regiment was not involved as they were in South Africa.
