Peter Gallagher made his will on 30th November 1869 naming Michael Lyons and John Gallagher as the executors
He bequeathed all his household furniture, linen, wearing apparel to his dearly beloved wife Maria Gallagher.
He also desired his executors to sell and dispose and convert to money the other parts of his real and personal estate either by public auction or private contract.
The proceeds to be divided between two thirds to his dearly beloved wife and the other third to his mother Anne Gallagher living near the town of Ardrahan. In the event of her death her share to be equally divided amongst his 2 brother and 2 sisters ie Martin, Patrick, Mary and Bridget Gallagher.
Further InformationPeter Gallagher was severely wounded at the bombardment of Sebastopol. He suffered the loss by amputation of nearly the whole of the ring finger and the last phalanges of the little finger of the left hand after a wound by a shell fragment on 25th August – the same shell fragment caused further damage to the hand.
29th April 1859 Peter Gallagher sergeant of the Enrolled Force Fremantle wrote to the Resident Magistrate Fremantle requesting that a reward be given to the five pensioners involved in the pursuit of 5 escapees on the boat Zillah commiserate with that awarded to the water police. Bruce reprimanded him saying they were not entitled as they were not involved in the capture of the escapees.
When Offered for sale in 1872 Location 127 was a freehold property of 10 acres adjoining Lefroy’s vineyard about 20 minutes walk from Fremantle. It consisted of one and a half acres of trellised vineyard, a 4 roomed stone cottage with a large wine cellar, detached stable and cattle shed (shingled) and a large stock yard. It was well watered and fenced.
