In the 1841 Census (HO 107 1461/13/37 Aquila Road, St. Helier, Jersey Channel Islands, John Campbell age 45 an Army Private born Ireland is living with his wife Lucy age 40, born England and their children Mary age 5, Eliza, age 3 and James age 3 months, all the children were born on Jersey.
By the time of the 1851 Census John Campbell has died and his widow Lucy is married to Samuel Simington, age 43 a Chelsea Pensioner born Ireland. Lucy, age 50, is a laundress and Mary age 15 is an ironess (sic), Lucy and James are both scholars and are joined by another sister Lucy age 7.
November 1880 Robert Thompson was on the Nominal roll for the Enrolled guard, he was living in Barracks with his wife and 6 children. Although he was discharged as a sergeant he was employed as a Lance Corporal in the Guard.
Robert Thompson gave evidence at the inquiry into the escape of 2 prisoners from the Convict establishment 21st April 1880.
1st July to 30th September he was employed at the Fremantle magazine.
Robert Thompson died 31st October 1883 at 11pm in the Convict prison guard room. He was buried on 2nd November with Military honours
