Further InformationJames Stratton (sic) first arrived in Australia with the 99th Regiment on the convict transport Earl Grey 14 January 1843.
The father of James Stretton was also James Stretton, and a soldier. Born 1794 Attested 73rd Regiment 11 August 1809 age 15, born Birmingham, discharged 7 August 1834. After 24 years’ service 2 years 6 months at Germany, Flanders, and France, 2 years at Waterloo. His description is the same as for his son with an inch difference in height. Hair Fair, Eyes grey, Complexion Fair height 5’5”. (WO97/856/70)
