Further Information | James Stratton (sic) first arrived in Australia with the 99th Regiment on the convict transport Earl Grey 14 January 1843. The father of James Stretton was also James Stretton, and a soldier. Born 1794 Attested 73rd Regiment 11 August 1809 age 15, born Birmingham, discharged 7 August 1834. After 24 years’ service 2 years 6 months at Germany, Flanders, and France, 2 years at Waterloo. His description is the same as for his son with an inch difference in height. Hair Fair, Eyes grey, Complexion Fair height 5’5”.
