Further Information | British Army Worldwide Index 1851 Thomas Stewart 2115 Private 53rd foot location Rawalpindi India 1861 Thomas Stewart 205/730 Private 87th foot returning from China 2nd May 1881 letter written recommending STEWART Thomas for the Enrolled Guard to replace SHEEHAN Patrick on his resignation. Letter held SRO WA 1880 Thomas Stewart and his wife and 3 children were living at No 2 Barracks Fremantle Between July and September 1881 Thomas was employed as a labourer at the magazine. 31st March 1887 Thomas Stewart was one of the men who was serving in the Enrolled Force at the time of its disbanding. Elizabeth Dellar was born 3rd November 1843 at Cheshunt, Herfordshire to Nathan and Charlotte Dellar, by the time of the 1851 census she was a six year old inmate of the Enfield Workhouse in Edmonton Middlesex. In 1859 she arrived in Western Australia with her father Nathan and his second wife Sarah and another three children in the Hamilla Mitchell. She married William Collins (date unknown) and had 2 children, Thomas Robert and Elizabeth Collins. After William’s death she married Thomas Stewart and had another child George Glen Stewart. Also at the Enfield Workhouse in 1851 was her sister Mary Ann Dellar, age 13, who had been born at Cheshunt, Hertfordshire on 18th October 1838, she was also on the Hamilla Mitchell. |
