1861 Census Daniel Stewart age 36 and a Greenwich pensioner born Perth Scotland is living at 8 Back Causeway Glasgow with his wife Elizabeth age 29 born Ireland and their children John Andrew (3) and Martha (1) both born Ireland.
Discharge due to palpitations and disease of the heart making unfit for further service.
The Surgeon Superintendent of the Merchantman rated the conduct of both Daniel and Elizabeth Stewart as Very Good. Both received medical treatment during the voyage and Mrs Stewart was hospitalised for 6 days due to catarrh. Their children John Martha Jane and Victor all accompanied them on the voyage.
Cons 3458/1882/351
As Daniel did not name an executor his widow Elizabeth applied for Letters of Administration
“I Daniel Steward leave and bequeath to my wife a grant of land situated in the Town Site of Perth marked no Y 273 containing one acre and sixteen perches or thereabouts to hold and enjoy the same for her absolute use and benefit and all the other moveables belonging to the said Daniel Stewart.” 10th February 1882.
On her death certificate Elizabeth names all her living children except John Andrew so presumably he died prior to 1908 although no children are listed as deceased.
