Subscribed to Indian Relief Fund 1858, Lancashire Relief Fund (1863) and Greenough Relief Fund (1864): listed as member of Perth District of the Pensioner Force on each occasion
John and William would have been born at Mauritius as the 35th regiment was posted to Mauritius in 1837 returning to Plymouth England in 1847/8. They were then sent to Ireland stationed in Dublin Mullingar, Tullamore, Trin, Phillipstown, Enniskillen and Dublin in 1851.
Henry Sheppard was one of the pensioners who had their cottage built under a scheme authorised by Staff Officer Bruce where by the amount available to pensioners was not enough to cover the cost of the cottage (£47) and they agreed to pay 1/- per day towards the extra expense. They formed an enclave at the rear of Perth and were enclosed by a fence
After Henry’s death in 1870 William advertised on 25th March for sale the contents of his house, a cow, a horse and a quantity of aged manure. The same advertisement appeared on 26th March was signed M. Sheppard.
Martha Sheppard married Henry Cave at Perth in 1875 and after his demise at Roebourne in 1881 married Robert Thompson in 1883 also at Roebourne Western Australia.
