Further Information | British Army, Worldwide Index 1841 Location Mahebourg Mauritius 1851 Location Ferozepore India It is possible he was married as he obviously came to Western Australia with no intention of settling here, he returned to Ireland almost immediately after arrival and there is no record of a wife in Western Australia. Stephen was recorded as being in Jersey in 1857- 1861 but he does not appear in the 1861 census, he returned to Jersey in 1863 which indicates he possibly had family connections to Jersey and there are Scanlans in the census living at Jersey including a 70 year old Mary. Stephen Scanlon died sometime after 1883 possibly in the county of Limerick Ireland as his WO records show. |
