7th December 1905 James Rush instructed his solicitors to prepare his will which he duly signed with his mark on the 8th December 1905. At the time he was blind and they had to read the will over to him before guiding his hand to make his mark.
There is no actual copy of the will but the value of his estate was put at £291/5/0. The legatees were his daughters Eliza Ann, Maria Louisa and Catherine Mary as well as his son James John and grandson John, the other legatees were not related to him. James had been living at Nazareth House for over four years prior to his death

Discharge due to paralysis of lower extremities and back the result of a blow from a sand bag while serving in the trenches before Sebastopol 7th June 1855.
November 1880 James rush was on the Nominal roll for the Enrolled Guard. At the time he was living at the Perth barracks and had 4 children 1 boy and 3 girls 2 of whom were in the Convent, his wife was dead.
13th December 1882 he was discharged from the Enrolled Guard-no reason given.James John – name on some records shown as John James
