Further InformationMilitary record records Matthew as being drunk returning from Scutari Souk
Discharge due to the removal of a musket bullet that was lodged in his right foot making him unable to march. Injury occurred 8 September 1855 at the final assault on Sebastopol. During the Voyage of the Clyde Matthew was appointed Corporal of the Guard 5 May 1863 in place of Corporal Webb.

6th June 1881 Payment of £15 to Matthew Ritchie 10d 41st foot Northampton to be sent to him at Northampton

November 1881 Matthew was one of the Pensioners employed on sentry duty at the Exhibition Building Perth.

December 1881 Matthew was appointed to the Enrolled Guard where he served until it was disbanded in 1887.
