Will or ProbateWill dated 7 April 1869 available State Records Office WA Cons 3403/1879/587

The date of death for Mary McDermott formerly Ring 15/5/1879 explains the delay in proving the will of Mark Ring.
SROWA Cons 3403/1879/587
Mark left the whole of his estate and effects to his wife Mary Ring on the proviso that if she should remarry the property should be used for the sole benefit of his children John, William, Michael, Mark and Margaret but should any of them marry during the period of his wife’s widowhood without her consent it would be a bar against them receiving any profit from the property.
He lists the assets as: a cottage and grant in the Perth Pensioner Village.
Sundry cattle, horses, a cart and harness.
Staff Sergeant Major John Gorman & pensioner William White were the executors and pensioners William Armitage and John Flynn the witnesses.
Will Dated 7 April 1869.

Mark Ring 40th Foot # 659
Location Quettah, Bombay, IndiaIn 1850 thirty married Chelsea Pensioners went to the Falkland Island with thirty kit houses to form a permanent garrison and Police force, however in 1857 disillusioned with the quality of the land grants and the inclement weather conditions, Mark and Mary Ring together with another 6 of the remaining pensioners returned to the UK at the Government’s expense.See Home – Archives (nationalarchives.gov.fk) For further information on the pensioners at the Falkland IslandsCons 1496/ 1901/ 1840/ 07: Hand Written letter to the Premier from Mary Ring regarding the termination of her employment as a cleaner of Government officers. They answered that her employment was of a temporary manner and she had given them good reasons to dismiss her. In a memo from the Public Works it said she had been ‘deficit in sobriety and had a contentious disposition to quarrel with the Superintendent of female cleaners’ despite cautions of which she took little heed. Given the letter is from the Premier it seems this is most likely to Mark Ring Jr’s wife Mary nee Claffey,
