From a notation on WO23-64 regarding a stoppage of two pounds eighteen Shillings and three pence (£2/18/3) for payment for the passage of wife, Michael may have been married at the time of sailing for Western Australia. The St. Andrews Church parish records for the Presidency of Bombay, India have a marriage of a Michael Redmond, gunner Artillery, age 32, father Thomas Redmond to Elizabeth Thompson age 20, a widow, father William Brown on 17th April 1856 at Fort George. For there to be a stoppage it appears his wife declined to accompany him or returned to the UK soon after arrival but the amount of the stoppage does not look enough for a full passage.
Ann Redmond was a wet nurse for the baby of Mrs Janes
