Thomas Edward Shaw. Master Mariner, the husband of Phoebe Shaw eldest daughter of Robert Ramsey applied for Letters of Administration on behalf of the 2 sons and 3 daughters of the deceased. The estate was valued as less than fifty pounds.
Further InformationMary Ramsay was one of the women who helped Catherine Gorman wife of EPG John Gorman during the birth of her twins and helped look after the babies.
Two of the Ramsay boys did not receive rations for the voyage.
Robert Ramsay received a pension of £63/13/- for his service in the CE. Mary received £13/17/- . Full account of their careers is in Warders and Gaolers (David J Barker 2000) page 176
Robert was the son of another soldier William Ramsey.
Additional information supplied by Mr M RegehrIn 1864 James George Ramsay and wife Mary had their first child, Amy Phoebe Ramsay. Shortly after the birth of Amy all 3 sailed aboard the Sea Ripple from Fremantle to Adelaide, accompanied by James’ younger brother John. James and Mary settled at Port Adelaide and between 1866 and 1881 had at least 6 further children. James George Ramsay was a carpenter and was unfortunately killed at only 42 years of age when caught in a large whirlwind while erecting a roof on a building in Hindmarsh Square. The storm caused the roof to collapse and James fell to his death. This Additional information supplied by descendant Mr Greg Whyte
