Further Information | British Army Worldwide Index 1841 John Pratt 1504 Private 24th Foot location Kingston Canada Discharge due to rheumatism, back pain and worn out constitution The witnesses to the marriage of John and Catherine Cahill were Pat and Julia Cahill. Mary Pratt age 1 was treated for rubella during the voyage of the Hashemy. She may have been the woman who married William Norrie. 1868 employed a ticket of leave man at Wandering (WA Bi Centennial Dictionary) When the Hashemy was chartered as a convict transport in 1850 its destination was Van Diemen’s Land but due to the strong anti-transportation movement in the Eastern states it was decided to send it to Western Australia where transportation was still acceptable. As a result the WO 23s still have the pensioners located in VDL in 1851 instead of Western Australia. |
