Further Information | Several pages of Discharge documents missing British Army Worldwide Index 1841 John Prendergast (sic) 1152 Private 87th Regt Depot Location Carlisle and Tynemouth 1851 As above Location Ferozepore India During the voyage of the Clara the Surgeon Superintendent stopped John Pendergast’s grog for having a dirty rifle. He was also one of the men charged with gross neglect of duty when taking their ammunition in one of their pouches and concealing it in the Barracks. Grog stopped for 3 days and matter to be turned over to the Commandant at Fremantle. Furthermore Mrs Pendergast also was one of the women who refused to go below when the decks were being cleaned. The Obituary for his daughter Mary Haynes said John had medals for the Indian mutiny and Crimea (doubtful) |
