After the death of Maria Osmond an Inquest was held to determine how she had come by some marks on her body not inconsistent with violence. Her son Samuel gave evidence that Maria had been living with him at Peppermint Grove at the time of her death and he had been caring for her to the best of his ability. Further evidence was given by the police and medical attendants. Dr Hearn found the marks had occurred after her death and the cause of death determined to be ‘by natural causes’.
