| Further Information | British Army Worldwide Index 1851 Michael O’Day (sic) 2584 Private 41st Foot location Cork, Ireland and at sea Discharge due to being medically unfit for further service 4th August 1855 Slightly wounded 2nd 3rd 4th 5th and final bombardment of Sebastopol 8th September 1855 severely wounded final attack on the Redan 21st March 1873 Martin O’Dea summonsed Stephen Chipper for allowing a ferocious and unmuzzled dog at large which bit his wife Bridget.. During 1874 Martin O’Dea was imprisoned for unknown offence released 9th June 1875 thereabouts Son Michael was along with W.C. Bowra was one of the founders of the undertaking business Bowra and O’Dea still in operation today. He was a blacksmith by trade and was initially employed by Mr Bowra in the coach building business before joining him in a partnership. Interestingly his son Michael’s estate was valued at over £26,000 at his death in 1932 The East Perth Cemetery has a headstone for Martin and Bridget O’Dea. |
