He was awarded a medal for Long Service and Good Conduct with a gratuity of £5 It is possible William was married at the time he came to Western Australia as a Mary McDermott age 26 died at Fremantle in 1868. She was buried in the St. Patricks Cemetery Skinner street Fremantle Western Australia on 6th February as Maria McDermutt (sic). Brigida McDermutt age 29 days died on the 8th February 1868 was also buried at Skinner Street Cemetery. William McDermott was an In Pensioner at Kilmainham Hospital Dublin Ireland 1st October 1902, he reverted to Out Pension 1st July 1902 – 18th June 1903. His niece Eliza McDermott was present at his death. |
