Archibald Muirhead died in 1870; his registration of death gives no further information as to place, actual date or cause of death beyond his age which was 53.
Sophia Muirhead married Samuel DABBS Newcastle WA in 1873. She was burned to death aged 65 in a bushfire at York WA on 16th February 1886. 14th February 1886 Inquest into the death of Sophia Dabbs.
Her husband Samuel Dabbs gave evidence that he was at Haythorpe (Beverley) fighting the fire and when he went home he found the body of his wife burned beyond recognition about 4-5 chains from the hut.
Verdict “The said Sophia Dabbs going to the well for a bucket of water was burnt to death by a bush fire – accidentally and casually and by misfortune came to her death.” SROWA Cons 527/1886/0748 (This makes her date of death the 14th not the 16th as previously recorded, possibly registered on the 16th.)
