Andrew Mangan married Ellen McCarthy 4th Quarter 1849 St. George in the East London
In the 1851 Census Andrew and Ellen are listed under the name MINGER, they are living at Corbets Court, Christchurch, Whitechapel, London, Middlesex, England. Andrew age 40 is working as a labourer, his wife Ellen was age 37, both were born in Ireland.
The children are listed as Catherine Minger age 14 and Dennis Minger age 11 both were born in Shadwell, Middlesex, England
Andrew’s wife’s name on Minden shipping list is Ellen age 37, the children are Catherine age 15 and Dennis age 11 and were children of Ellen’s first marriage.
Catherine McCarthy was born and baptised on 8th May 1836 at St. Mary and St. Michael Stepney, her father Timothy McCarthy, mother Ellen Haley.
A Catherine McCarthy married George Alfred FISHWICK at Fremantle in 1855 and died 7th April 1901. Her obituary is in the Western Mail Saturday 13th April 1901 page 17.
Dennis McCarthy was born 12th August 1840 and baptised 22nd August at St. Mary and St. Michael Stepney, his father Timothy McCarthy and mother Helena Haly.
9th October 1852 Captain Bruce notified the Governor that Sergeant Andrew Mangan left the Colony in the service of William Scott owner of the Merope leaving his family at Fremantle
On 1st October 1872 Andrew Mangan requested a transfer of residence from Sydney New South Wales to Melbourne as he wished to reside there. There is no personal information on the certificate. He was duly paid in Melbourne from 1st January 1873 to June 1873. He was struck of the list 12 months later as he had not collected his pension since then.
