Further Information | Discharge: “loss of power in left arm from gunshot wound to shoulder” British Army, Worldwide Index 1841 1517 Sergeant 68th regt. Location Ashton under Lyme 1851 1517 Sergeant 68th regt. Location MaltaHe transferred from the 68th to the 49th at Valetta Malta 3rd April 1854. His pension was paid from the Patriotic Fund which indicates he was wounded at Crimea. The day previous to his suicide Michael had been stood down from his occupation as compounder at the hospital by his superior. After Michael’s death his widow Mary and family travelled to South Australia where on 10th September 1878 she married Thomas Bradshaw at St. Andrew’s manse in Adelaide. Later they travelled to Victoria where she died 6th November 1900 at South Yarra. Her father throughout all this is recorded as Thomas Kelly. |
