Further Information | Daniel must have had problems adapting to military life as he was listed as a deserter twice firstly on 21 October 1837 and secondly on 20 February 1839. British Army Worldwide Index 1841 Daniel Logg 918 Private 42nd Foot location Corfu 1851 As above location Bermuda He was awarded a medal and a £5 gratuity for distinguished conduct in the field Discharge at own request having served upwards of 21 year service There is a possibility that Daniel Logg married Unitie Darling on 21st May 1836, Gorbels Lanarkshire prior to him enlisting in the 42nd regiment. In the 1861 Census Daniel Logg is living with his family at William Street Barony, Milton Lanarkshire. Daniel is age 38, married occupation painter born Glasgow Scotland His wife Elizabeth is age 38 and born United States Daughter Elizabeth was born 1854 England and Hunnia (Hannah) was born 1858 Perth Scotland Elizabeth Logg was admitted to the Royal Adelaide hospital on 24th October 1887, aged 64 (B1823) she was a widow living at Portland Estate, born in North America and had been in the Colony for 20 years (No ship of arrival given.) |
