Further Information | Although WO97 doesn’t show overseas service. Discharge: ‘This man has incurred a gunshot wound thro’ the mouth and right shoulder on the 8th September 1855. Ball seems to have entered the mouth and after breaking 1 or 2 teeth emerged at the edge of the right side of the lower jaw grazing the bone. It subsequently grazed the head of the right humerus over which there is an extensive adherent cicatrix. Health good.’ During the voyage of the Lincelles the surgeon superintendent found fault with John Kelly and reported “Pensioner J. Kelly late 41st Regiment placed under arrest by Sergt. Major Moody for making use of improper language and swearing in a loud tone of voice on the 18th Sept. 2 days grog stopped.” Again on the 24th September he reported “Private John Kelly reported by Sergt. Major Moody for firing off his musket at a bird without an order. 6 Days Grog Stopped.” Purchased land Greenough. Useless land swapped for land Front Flats. |
