Further Information | British Army, Worldwide Index:1841 reg 1377 location Canterbury 1851 reg location Corfu 1856 Discharge was due to stricture of the urethra and bladder disease William Kean served 14 Years and 52 days in the 16th regiment and 2 years 294 days in the 88th regiment. On 15th October 1870 William Kean applied to have his pension paid in Melbourne as he wished to reside there. At the time he was 50 years of age, height 5 foot 7 inches, his hair was grey/ brown, eyes dark blue and his complexion fresh. His face was round and he was stout although he appeared healthy. He said he married Mary Delaney on 7th June 1858 at Birr, Ireland. He said he was born at Nenagh but his parents were not stated. The other information regarding his military career was the same. 11th July 1877 Mary Kain (sic) died of Tetanus contracted after a fall in the street. They were living in Victoria Lane Melbourne at the time William is described as a labourer. William returned to Perth 20th June 1879 only to transfer back to Melbourne on 9th April 1881 before finally returning to Western Australia on 10th June 1881. He served on the Enrolled Guard from 24th September 1885 until it was disbanded 31st March 1887. William died as a result of severe burns he received at home Adelaide Street Fremantle his second wife predeceased him in 1887. |
