There are many mentions of an Abraham Hobbs in the Victorian Newspapers but none identify him with being a pensioner – there was another man of the same name who died in Victoria in 1899.

Remarks:  Ellen Hobbs was admitted to the Roman Catholic Orphanage on 16th May 1872
age 6 years 6 months, she left on 25th October 1876 to go to relatives in Melbourne.
When Abraham left for Melbourne on the Bessie  17th February 1878 he took Ellen back with him.
