Discharge due to having completed 21 years service and being on permanent staff of the Warwick Regiment of Militia.
In the 1841 Census William Hextall is a soldier at the Fort Regent Barracks, St. Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands
In 1867 William Hextall gave evidence in a court case in Adelaide in support of fellow 24th Regiment soldier Charles Stretch who was also on the Clara in 1864.

Both John and Ellen Targett died at the home of Mr & Mrs Samuel Christopher Hughes their daughter and son-in-law. Samuel Christopher Hughes married Mary Ellen Hextall on 29th November 1880 so that makes Ellen Targett formerly Hextall nee Scanlan her mother.
We do not know if it was a legal marriage or a common law marriage as there does not appear to be a registration and we do not have a death for William Hextall. John Targett may have been married previously and that could account for the information on the hospital admissions although no marriage has been found in India or the UK.

29th November 1880 a Mary Ellen Hextall, age 20, married Samuel Christopher Hughes. Her father is recorded as William Hextall. Mary Ellen Hughes died 29th August 1915 Adelaide South Australia.
The difference in the between the dates of death and burial of Joseph Hextall or Williams is unexplained
