Further Information | British Army Worldwide Index 1841 William Hextall 1515 Private 46th Foot Depot Location Jersey and Cork 1851 William Hextall 2440 Private 45th Foot Location Natal South Africa 1861 Willian Hextall Sergeant 2nd Battalion 24th Foot Location Cork Discharge due to having completed 21 years service and being on permanent staff of the Warwick Regiment of Militia. In the 1841 Census William Hextall is a soldier at the Fort Regent Barracks, St. Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands In 1867 William Hextall gave evidence in a court case in Adelaide in support of fellow 24th Regiment soldier Charles Stretch who was also on the Clara in 1864. Both John and Ellen Targett died at the home of Mr & Mrs Samuel Christopher Hughes their daughter and son-in-law. Samuel Christopher Hughes married Mary Ellen Hextall on 29th November 1880 so that makes Ellen Targett formerly Hextall nee Scanlan her mother. 29th November 1880 a Mary Ellen Hextall, age 20, married Samuel Christopher Hughes. Her father is recorded as William Hextall. Mary Ellen Hughes died 29th August 1915 Adelaide South Australia. |
