Further Information | Military record are usually Haley or Haly whereas in WA it is spelt Healy Disabled by gunshot wound through the left tarsus the ball passing from within outwards nearly through its centre occurred at Inkerman. During the voyage of the Clyde three occurrences for Patrick Haley (sic) were noted firstly the birth of a male child 25th February 1863 at 2:30 am aboard the Clyde and secondly on 24th March reported for sleeping while on sentry duty – grog stopped for 3 days and extra barricade duty and on 12 April Patrick Healy was reprimanded for beating and abusing his wife after being separated and admonished he again attacked her with a deck scraper -24 hours bread and water 23rd January 1888 Patrick Healy applied for employment in the Public Service. His application said he was 50 Years of age, married with 7 married children, sober and honest. He was recommended by Geo Leake Chief Justice for whom he had previously worked as a servant. SROWA Cons 527/1888/311 SLWA Private Archives 8310/A1 states Patrick Healy’s daughter Mary was aged 2 years at the time of the voyage of the Clyde. She married master mariner Charles Thomas Morgan. Their daughter Margaret Florence Morgan married Ernest Edward Page whose mother Matilda Shaw was the daughter of Samuel John Shaw, a pensioner of the Royal Artillery 2nd Batt, who arrived in Hobart in 1850 aboard the William Jardine. Corporal Shaw took up an allotment at Westbury, Tasmania. |
