Served in the Persia Campaign of 1856-7 and in the suppressing of the Bengal mutiny from June 1857-September 1858. Entitled to medal and clasp for Persia and medal for India
Discharge due to being old and worn out and suffering from nervous agitation
Further research is needed into John Gardiner’s death and also his time in South Australia Nothing found but it looks like he died in South Australia on the WO23. There is no record of a burial in Fremantle or East Perth cemeteries.
