November 1880 Frederick James Farringdon was on the nominated list for the Enrolled Guard (his name was listed as James F Farringdon). He was living at the number 2 barracks Fremantle with his wife and 5 children
10th April 1881 the principal warder of the Convict establishment inquired whether Private Farringdon (Drummer) would inflict punishment of 24 lashes on an inmate of the Convict Establishment. Captain Smith refused permission as it was the duty of a CE warder
