Further Information | John Duthie’s WO 97 said he was present at the action at Alma, Inkerman and Sebastopol, however the medal rolls say he was awarded a Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava and Sebastopol. British Army, Worldwide Index: 1851 John Duthie 1667 private location Winchester and Portsmouth 1861 John Duthie 1667 private location Poona East Indies Discharge due to Chronic Rheumatism. Awarded silver medal for good conduct and long service. In the 1851 Census John Duthie is at the Anglesey Barracks Portsea, Portsmouth Hampshire England. A single man age 22 a soldier of the 95th regiment, born Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland. 17th June 1875 John Duthie drowned when he fell out of a small boat crossing the Swan River near Fremantle while in the company of John Brotchie, master of the cutter Arabian. |
