1841 John Donnelly No 1427 was stationed at Bellary Madras India
Discharge: Due to contracting ophthalmia on the voyage back home from Malta, impaired vision in both eyes. Apparently it was prevalent in the regiment at the time.
January 21 1878 the Very Reverend Gibney requested that the four children of the late Pensioner Donnelly be received into the RC orphanage. For a limited period Catherine was allowed one shilling a day and recommended the children be admitted to the orphanage
