Discharge: At own request having served 21 years
26th February 1876 – Note on WO97: Convicted by Court Martial at Fremantle and sentenced to 84 days imprisonment and a fine of 20 Pounds or £20/-/- for having been drunk when on duty on the Barrack guard of Enrolled Force. Half pension to be suspended and the other half paid to wife for term of imprisonment
Note on Application for Title:
Hugh Daniels left no children. His widow is only entitled to inherit anything due to him and no more. Although the pensioner had not strictly fulfilled all the conditions as to improvements yet he had partly fenced the ground and had collected the stone for building his cottage when he suddenly died and he had served more than the prescribed period as an enrolled pensioner. I’ll recommend the fee simple of the allotment be granted to his widow left in destitute circumstances.
Edward Harvest, Commandant’s Office Fremantle 20th October 1880.
6th January 1881 Fremantle (SROWA – Cons 144) : Bridget Daniels widow to the late pensioner Hugh Daniels 98th Foot requests permission to occupy a room in the lower barracks – approved.
