Further Information | Thomas Coote’s transfer to the 61st regiment was cancelled as he was not fit to serve in India Discharge due to extensive varicose veins in both legs causing much pain when he stands or walks, unfit for further service. Westmeath, Ireland AJCP reel 466/87 part 2 Folio 233 Proceedings of a Court of Inquiry into complaints by the wives of the Pensioner Guard on the Stag into the conduct of the Super Intendent Surgeon Caldwell. No mention of Mrs Coote. It is possible that daughter Elizabeth Coote became a sister of the St. Joseph’s order in 1881, Elizabeth Mary Magdelene Cootes died at Albany on 16th March 1920. |
