Discharge at own request for the purpose of enabling him to join the recruiting staff of the East India forces.
In 1866 James Clinton nominated his son Henry aged 18 living Glengarry Inverness Scotland as a migrant. Unfortunately he was not found at the address given (West Australian Times Tuesday 23rd March 1875 page 5) However, he eventually arrived in Western Australia on 1st May 1885 with his wife Jessie and children Jane, William, Caroline, Harry, Henry and James on the ship Glenavon. A further child Daniel Glenavon was born during the voyage.
On 26 May 1876 Payment of £15 requested to enable the house at West Guildford which was wall plate high to be finished
The names of James, Annie, Alfred and Joseph Thomas Clinton are inscribed on the headstone at the East Perth Cemetery.
