1841 Kenneth Campbell, drummer, 72nd regt. Location Portsmouth Hampshire, England
1851 Census Kenneth Campbell, pensioner, his wife Helen age 36 and son Thomas age 5 all born Lasswade are living at 97 Main Street West, Lasswade Midlothian Scotland.
Between the arrival of the Minden and January1854 Kenneth Campbell had been guilty of assault on his wife 5 times
1872 pension suspended for 2 months while imprisoned for violently assaulting his wife.
19 August 1874 Kenneth Campbell applied for the grant of £15 as the brick and mortar walls of his 4 bedroom cottage erected on his grant at Y127 had been completed.
Obituary for son Thomas (Daily News Thursday 16 September 1926) said he was born at Gibraltar but no record of the birth or marriage of parents at Gibraltar has been located.
The 72nd regiment was located at Cape of Good Hope from June 1828 to 1840 when it returned to England. In November 1844 to February 1848 it was located at Gibraltar and from 1848 to 1851 in Barbados, so it is probable Thomas was born in Gibraltar but possible Kenneth and Ellen were married in England prior to sailing.
