Further Information7th July 1847 embarked England for India per Sea Park

There are anomalies within the Lord Clive Pension Fund records for this man- if he enlisted age 23 in 1847 he was born 1824 however on his discharge papers 1860 it said he was 33 which makes his birth 1827 but if he was 33 after 20 years’ service he was 13 when he enlisted ( impossible for EIC). His length of service being given as 20 ½ years he must have enlisted in 1840 not 1847 and his birth would have been 1816/7. His pension of 1/- is commensurate with 20 years’ service. His embarkation dates suggests he served 13 years 5 months.
There were other men named Michael Barry serving in the East India Company and they may have got their details muddled up.
21 August 1880 Michael Barry is living in No 2 Barracks Fremantle with his wife and 5 children
1 March 1881 Michael Barry bought Barracks furniture
26th March 1881 Michael Barry recommended to be taken on the Enrolled Guard – appointed 8th June 1881
10th January 1882 dismissed from Enrolled Guard.
13th May 1886 Mary Barry took out a warrant of arrest for her husband assaulting her for the third time, cruelty and threatening to take her life.
Son James is mentioned in the funeral notice of Dora Adlington he is possible the eldest of the sons
