Further Information | 7th July 1847 embarked England for India per Sea Park There are anomalies within the Lord Clive Pension Fund records for this man- if he enlisted age 23 in 1847 he was born 1824 however on his discharge papers 1860 it said he was 33 which makes his birth 1827 but if he was 33 after 20 years’ service he was 13 when he enlisted ( impossible for EIC). His length of service being given as 20 ½ years he must have enlisted in 1840 not 1847 and his birth would have been 1816/7. His pension of 1/- is commensurate with 20 years’ service. His embarkation dates suggests he served 13 years 5 months. |
