After the arrival of the Scindian at Fremantle Captain Henderson wrote a report listing the rank name, trade or calling, rate of pension, date of enlistment for 5 months service, marital status, and number of children for each pensioner. Sometimes the trade of calling differed from that recorded at the time of attestation.

20th September 1855 John Barrett wrote to the Colonial Secretary regarding what he saw as his unwarranted dismissal from the Enrolled Force as he was undergoing treatment for loss of sight. Lt Colonel Bruce replied that it was the practice to strike men off when a convict ship arrived and Barrett had failed to take advantage of the opportunities of advancement in the colony.
