Discharge due to chronic rheumatism
After the arrival of the Scindian at Fremantle Captain Henderson wrote a report listing the rank name, trade or calling, rate of pension, date of enlistment for 5 months service, marital status, and number of children for each pensioner. Sometimes the trade of calling differed from that recorded at the time of attestation.

18th August 1857 Lt. Col Bruce requested John Atkinson be granted Fee Simple for land at Freshwater Bay as he had served 7 years in the Enrolled Force
31st May 1867 John Atkinson reported a double barrelled gun had been stolen from his premises on 29/30th supposedly by the absconders Graham AN5 Fremantle Police Cons 419 Item 2
In October 1867 Agnes and Annas Atkinson gave evidence in the stabbing of Thomas McMullen by Josiah Penny at Butler’s Swamp. The Perth Gazette and West Australian Times Friday 4th October 1867 page 2
On or about 26th November 1874 John Atkinson wrote a will without naming an executor leaving all his real and personal estate to his wife Ann for her life and after her death the estate was to be divided between all his children. This will was eventually lost and towards the end of his widow Ann Atkinson’ life their daughter Agnes Reeve took legal action on behalf of her siblings against their eldest brother. The jury which was held on 8th and 9th July 1900 appointing Agnes Reeve Administratrix upheld by the full court on 2nd May 1901. The value of the property at Swan Location P236 of 9 acres 2 roods and 4 perches was £800 there being no other assets.Descendants Maskew Family
