Further Information | Further Information Landed at Gravesend England 26th August 1837 returning from overseas service. Discharge due to chronic dysentery and dyspnoeaCatherine Foot (42) was delivered on a male child on 24th May 1850 aboard the Scindian the surgeon noted they were landed well at Fremantle Swan River After the arrival of the Scindian at Fremantle Captain Henderson wrote a report listing the rank name, trade or calling, rate of pension, date of enlistment for 5 months service, marital status, and number of children for each pensioner. Sometimes the trade of calling differed from that recorded at the time of attestation: Drummer Joseph Foote, porter, 1/-, 17th January, married, 4 children. On 25th May 1877 John Foote was captain of a 60 ton cutter Cartabunup (Bunyip) transporting telegraphic material from Albany for the construction of the overland telegraph line when during a storm it was driven ashore at Twilight Cove on the south coast. His brothers Joseph and Scindian were also part of the crew and after surviving the wreck the brothers had to trek 200 miles over very hostile terrain to Israelite Bay telegraph station for assistance.
