Discharge: Unfit for further service due to being wounded at Ferozeshar
In the 1861 Census Matthew and Bridget are living at 31 Morning Star, Hue street St Heliers Channel Islands with their children Peter, Mary, Winifred and Ann.
The Surgeon Superintendent of the Merchantman rated the conduct of Matthew and Bridget as ‘very good’. Children Peter, Winifred, Ann and Agnes accompanied them, Mary having died in 1861.
12th June 1865 Application to purchase Fremantle town lot 706 for £618th December 1882 Matthew Goodbody appointed to the Enrolled Guard where he served until it was disbanded 31st March 1887.
In 1891 Pensioner Goodbody is living in the Fremantle Barracks with his married daughter Mary Pollett aged twenty-six and her two children, Laurence aged three and Stattela(Stella) aged two. (Mary’s husband is Police Constable Pollett.) Also living with Pensioner Goodbody is his daughter Kate Fitzpatrick aged twenty and her son Matthew aged two. When additional rooms were needed for the Immigration depot both Kate and Mary and their children were ordered to leave by 31st January 1892.
1893 Daughter Agnes entered the Convent of Mercy as Sister Mary Elizabeth
Matthew died at the home of his daughter Mary Jane and her husband William Pollett in Northampton where he lived for the final sixteen years of his life.
