Robert is aged 30, a gunner with the Royal Artillery and he was born in Ireland. Sarah was aged 25 and was also born in Ireland while their daughter Elizabeth was aged 2 years and she had been born at Jamaica in the West Indies. By the time of the 1861 Census the family is living at Tilbury Fort, Holds End, Chadwell St Mary, Orsett, Essex, England Robert was by now 40 years of age, a gunner with the Royal Artillery born Ireland. He was now living with his second wife Elizabeth aged 28 and she too had been born in Ireland. Daughter Elizabeth was by now 12 years of age. Mary Ann was age 2 and had been born at Tilbury Fort as had new born son John. On discharge notes: Conduct Exemplary, Five Good Conduct Badges, appears in the regimental defaulters book four times and is court-martialled once. Discharge at own request length of service. |
