In the 1851 Census HO 107 Piece 2185 Folio 729 Thomas Gardner (sic) Age 26, born Lanark Scotland, is a single man at the Birthfield Barracks Liverpool.
Discharge: Rheumatism in back. Worn out from length of service and effects of campaigns in Crimea, India and Africa. Four good conduct badges.

A Mary Gardiner was buried in the East Perth Cemetery on 29th March 1892 age 46.
The name Balaugh does not appear in any record other than the marriage of Thomas Gardiner and Mary so perhaps it was Balagh of whom there were a few in the BMDs for WA although a Balaugh was in the 1940 USA census.
