Burial site of majority of WHELAN and DONOHUE families buried in same grave Roman Catholic Section Fremantle Western Australia. Headstone states O’DONOGHUE. Burial record on mcb.wa.gov.au show names of DONOHUE children Patrick, Timothy and Mary buried same grave although not stated on headstone. Grave exhumed from Skinner Street Cemetery.
Bridget Whelan made her will on 18th July 1919 whereby she bequeathed her life insurance policy to her daughter Margaret Ellen Hume towards her funeral expenses as well as all her household furniture, jewellery, books, clothing and goods and chattels.
Her freehold property North Fremantle town lot P24 to be sold and the proceeds divided as follows:
¼ to son John Donoghue
¼ to son Patrick Whelan
½ to daughter Margaret Ellen Hume. She appointed her son John Donohue sole executor. The estate was valued at £776/18/6 the value of the property £750
Description of property:
On the Swan Street frontage is erected a pair of rubble stone cottages of four rooms each with verandas roofed with iron. The two back rooms of the first house are skilling built. The cottages are very old and show signs of dampness. Three small shed and the usual sanitary accommodation 1000 gallon water tank. The remainder of the land is a Chinaman’s garden and underwater during the winter months practically. Land Value £200 improvements £550.
