Further Information | British Army, Worldwide Index: 1851 Redmond Leahy(sic) Private 1888 37th Foot location Kandy and Colombo, Ceylon 1861 As above location Colchester Discharge: After completing 21 years’ service. 29th April 1881 Redmond requested his Indian Military medal be sent to him when received –issued 12th July 1881. Death recorded as LAKEY Redmond 27th June 1894 Dr Barnett on behalf of the widow Leahy requested quarters in the barracks as she was quite unable to work recommended she receive rations. 3rd July 1894 Octavius Burt replied “It is not desirable to have these widows located in the Barracks. They are an intolerable nuisance. There are at present no vacant quarters. Ms Leahy can be received into the home as soon as there may be room.” |
