Further Information | James Fallon involved in the wreck of the Royal Charlotte in Torres Strait in 20th June 1824: spent 42 days “on a rock” on his passage from NSW to India (see WO97) see: James Fallon Saved by an Emu by Jeanette Lee – EPG Newsletter January 2015 British Army Worldwide Index Although the 20th regiment does not appear in the muster rolls for New South Wales the regiment must have spent time there for them to be aboard the Royal Charlotte enroute to India, alternately they may have been the guard on the Royal Charlotte when she sailed with convicts to New South Wales. James Fallon would have lost his possessions when he was ship wrecked and would account for the brief entry in ‘Overseas service.’ |
